my journal
I am an Italian visual artist, photographer and writer. In everyday life I work as a freelance translator and this gives me the chance to learn many new things due to all the translations I have to work on: you never work on the same thing. Aside from all the publications (in Italy and abroad) I got for my photos, my first book, an essay about cartoons and the way they speak to adults and kids, has been published by Cagliostro and is now being studied by uni students at Università L'Orientale di Napoli. In 2007 I finished my fictional novel, a mix of sci-fi and horror. It is still in the process of being edited and when I'll finally feel it's ready to be published, I'll let you know about it.
This journal is friends only for two main reasons. To begin with, I don't want my stuff all over the net. And then, due to very bad experiences with psychos and people who just don't have a life - since I already have to deal with serious issues (not stupid internet fights)and I actually am very busy - I want to try and stay away from them as much as possible. Unfortunately my friends say that I attract psychos in an unnatural way. I swear I don't do it on purpose! If you want to be added anyway, if you know me or if we have already spoken, leave a comment and add me. We'll take it from there.
If today I already published a book and I work with several Italian editors, managing my own column about international art (where I interview artists, singers, photographers and actors from all over the world) I think I owe it to the intensive role play activity I did when I was younger. I used to write a lot in English and Italian. Sure I'm not an English mothertongue but I suppose there's a reason if I'm getting compliments from English speakers and if I work as a translator, right?
I like written roleplay (blogs, comments, msn, mail) if it is a really good one. I tend to get bored if I have to deal with Mary Sues or teenagers. I don't feel like playing with people who play a 50 years old man as if he was a 18 years old kid, or with overly fantastic situations. A little bit of fantasy or sci-fi is ok, up to a point. Unfortunately it seems that not many people understand where that point is.
My favorite rp story is an Eric Bana/Milla Jovovich one. I still have the convos saved and if I read them today I tell myself it couldn't be me playing that, it was just too good. :) It was played in a community named Innovative. I didn't keep in touch with Mrs. Banafruffypants, but if she ever stumbles upon this page and recognizes me (unless she gets scared), I hope she'll contact me, because I miss her and her writing style!
As of today, if I'd find the right rp partner, I'd like to start a private rp in English. Why? Because it helps me with creativity, it improves my English and my writing skills. 3 years ago I opened an Italian rpg based on the tv series The Young Riders. It's still up and running, we're a nice but small drama-free group and you can check out our website whenever you want. Follow the links scattered here and there on my pages.
One of my worst crimes when it comes to blogs is that I'm a lurker. I know I should update and comment more often, but sometimes I get so caught in my life and the issues I have to deal with, that I don't have time to do anything else. I hope you'll bear with me and won't get offended, I swear it's nothing personal. Anyway here I'll have to do my best because I promised a friend, so.... ok, I'll give it a serious try!
There are many things to discover about me. Shallow people will hate me or love it. If you just dig a little bit deeper on the contrary... you might discover a whole new world. That is if I allow you to dig, of course. ;) Give it a try, I challenge you.
